Today’s healthcare environment requires physician executives to effectively lead across clinical, managerial and administrative areas of responsibility. Often this requires changing organizational paradigms, particularly as related to engaging physicians in creating cultural change.

Because these changes typically require long-term implementation, one key challenge is knowing what will work. To that end, ACHE is offering three specific seminars at the 2018 Congress on Healthcare Leadership that will provide you with practical knowledge from successful clinical integration programs, and specific approaches you can use to confidently lead your own integration efforts.

Getting Physicians More Involved: One Hospital’s Story

Seminar 03A or 03B (1.5 credit hours)

The complexity of physician relations today affects organizational flow and physician involvement at all healthcare organizations. This seminar will examine the steps taken by one organization to create close unity and cohesion among its physicians, who then took up the charge for clinical integration. You will learn how to design a comprehensive program to help identify and empower physician champions, and get more front-line clinicians involved in leading clinical integration efforts.

A Comprehensive Approach to Building Physician Participation in Driving Value and Patient Experience

Seminar 42A or 42B (1.5 credit hours)

The Ottawa (Ontario) Hospital’s commitment to physician integration and participation is a key contributing factor to its success in patient experience and efficiency. This seminar will demonstrate how the use of evidence-based structural and relationship-focused strategies drove more physician engagement to improve healthcare quality, efficiency and overall patient experience. You’ll also learn how to evaluate your organization for both obstacles and opportunities for increasing physician engagement.

Clinically Integrating Physicians and the Service Line

Seminar 52A or 52B (1.5 credit hours)

Balancing patient care needs with often competing strategic organizational goals can create barriers to effective physician-hospital alignment and clinical service line performance. Based on a two-year pilot program across multiple clinical service lines, this program provides a step-by-step approach to meaningfully engage physicians in performance improvement, while also closing gaps between an organization’s mission and physician goals to help achieve seamless integration across the continuum of care.

In addition to these educational seminars, physician executives are encouraged to attend the Physician Executives Forum Networking Reception, the Physician Executive Boot Camp and other sessions geared toward physician leaders outlined in the Navigating Congress section (Page 6) of the Congress brochure.

ACHE hopes these seminars and other Congress events geared toward physician executives will help you achieve your organization’s clinical integration goals. Register today!
